How to Start a Dance Society

UCD Dance Society

The Baby Dolls is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of the art of dance, and is the largest of its kind on campus. Whether you’re a novice or an advanced dancer, you can join and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts. UCD Dance is located in Milltown, Dublin, and welcomes members from all backgrounds and abilities. The Society also works in cultural education, and is an ideal place to get started on your path to dance-related success.

The Society’s annual showcase, known as Inters, is a highlight for many students. Dancers from across the world gather here to showcase their talents at one of the most prestigious dance competitions in the world. Inters is a massive step-up for many UCD dancers, and it takes weeks of choreography, drilling, and cleaning to make it a success. The UCD Dance Society has several annual shows, so you’ll definitely have plenty of opportunities to participate!

Harlem Swing Dance Society

The Harlem Swing Dance Society (THSDS) is a premier organization dedicated to the preservation of the Harlem culture. The Society has become so popular, in fact, that inquiries from around the world are frequent. With its unique dance styles, the Society is a thriving community, which has many surprises in store for its members. It’s a great way to experience the Harlem culture and spark smiles!

In addition to their weekly swing dancing classes, the society also hosts cultural events and educational lectures. Founded in the summer of 2010, the society is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Harlem’s dancing culture. As a non-profit organization, the Society’s efforts are not only focused on propagating the culture of swing dance in Harlem, but also preserving the history of the famous Savoy Ballroom.

Country Dance Society

The Country Dance and Song Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to participatory song, music, and dance. Members of the organization enjoy attending country dance contests and gatherings. You can even join a dance class. There are many types of country dancing, including square, contra, and swing. Members are encouraged to participate in as many dances as possible. There is a society near you to help you find your dancing style. Here’s a look at some of them.

Berkeley-based dancers are welcome at the country-style ballroom and swing dances. Beginners are encouraged to attend a free introductory workshop at 1:30 PM before dancing. No partner is necessary. Many dances are accessible to the disabled. All dancers are welcome. The Society is a non-profit organization that helps the community maintain a traditional style of country dancing. The BACDS sponsors seven English country dance events throughout the Bay Area, including weekly Sunday afternoon dances. In 1970, Charles Ward organized the first dance and provided the music. Norah Hughes was the first guest and dance manager. The first English country dance series began October 18, 1970, over thirty years ago. The Society is a nonprofit organization and welcomes newcomers. You do not need a partner to attend an English dance. BACDS dances are also open to the public.
